About Me

I began my passion for art by creating watercolor landscapes.  I am fascinated by how light creates a different effect on the same scene depending on the time of the day and the seasons of the year.  I find watercolor to be the most effective medium with which to depict the mood changes of nature.  The transparent qualities of watercolor creates a dreamy, ethereal visual effect.  The ripples of a cool, transparent creek, the cottages reflected in a lake, the orange, pink and purple sunset above the ocean, the masts disappearing beyond the horizon, the heavy snow resting on the bending tree branches … these are some of the scenes I have enjoyed painting over the years.

After winning national and international competitions and having my work featured in exhibitions, I decided to turn my hobby into a career.  I received my MFA in Fine Arts from California College of the Arts in May 2021.  I have taught the CCA Atelier program, the young artist program, and the pre-college program since June 2021.  I have also been teaching the beginning, intermediate, and advanced painting classes at Holy Names University since fall 2022.  By sharing with my students the pain and the joy of creating art, I am learning new things and relearning what I thought I already knew.  My greatest passion is continuing to learn!  I have recently discovered that painting while listening to books is the peak of indulgence.
