About Me

I am fascinated by how light creates a different effect on the same scene depending on the time of the day and the seasons of the year.  I find watercolor to be the most effective medium with which to depict the mood changes of nature.  I love using transparent watercolor to create a dreamy, ethereal visual effect.  The ripples of a cool, transparent creek, the cottages reflected in a lake, the orange, pink and purple sunset above the ocean, the masts disappearing beyond the horizon, the heavy snow resting on the bending tree branches … these are some of the scenes I have enjoyed painting over the years.

I received MFA  in Fine Arts from California College of  the Arts in May 2021.  My recent work can be viewed from the CCA MFA Class 2021 website: https://2021.ccamfa.art/students/wendy-liang

In the past  ten years I have entered several national and international competitions.  I won second place for The Artist Magazine annual competitionin 2012 and 3rd place for Southwest Art annual in 2013.

In 2017, my work was selected from over 7000 entries worldwide to be featured in Splash 19 Illusion of Light.  In January 2018, my work was exhibited and immediately sold at California Watercolor Association’s annual national exhibition.
